Suunta.ai facilitated the adoption of AI with a solution that combines support for strategy development and stringent data security requirements

Redan Oy is a construction company operating in the greater Helsinki area, specializing in renovation projects. The company had previously considered leveraging AI, but had not found a suitable solution – particularly due to concerns about data security, which prevented any concrete implementation.

“We had been exploring the potential of AI for a long time, but security issues got in the way of truly utilizing it – we didn’t want to put our data into just any model,” explains Redan’s CEO, Panu Lallukka.

At the same time, the company needed to advance its strategic work and take its business to the next level. The digitalization of renovation work had been identified as a major opportunity, and Redan wanted to be at the forefront of it.

A collaboration that led to the strategic implementation of Suunta.ai – AI became part of management’s daily routine

Redan Oy’s collaboration with Y4 Works began a few years ago with strategic support and has continued in the form of management consulting. Working with management consultant Henri Saarela opened up a discussion on how AI could be utilized to support strategic work and business development. When Suunta.ai’s data security and strategic approach impressed the company, it became natural to adopt the tool.

“Suunta.ai was designed from a business strategy perspective, and it ties the responses to the company’s own context,” Lallukka notes.

Suunta.ai was rolled out in fall 2024 with a team license primarily at the executive level, but it has also been used within project teams on a case-by-case basis to test how AI can be applied to various plans and project-specific needs.

“Suunta.ai is one of the means by which our jointly developed strategy goes deeper and is put into practice,” comments Y4 Works’ Henri Saarela.

Suunta.ai is incredibly versatile. In dialogue, you can quickly dive into the deep end. It brings viewpoints you wouldn’t think of on your own. And it does it in a matter of minutes

Support for strategy work and day-to-day operations

According to Redan’s experience, Suunta.ai has proven to be a versatile tool that supports both high-level strategic planning and the operational needs of daily work. It helps produce clear plans and reports quickly and accurately – while also introducing new perspectives that might otherwise go unnoticed. “Suunta.ai is incredibly versatile. In dialogue, you can quickly dive into the deep end. It brings viewpoints you wouldn’t think of on your own. And it does it in a matter of minutes,” says Lallukka.

Using Suunta.ai has also brought significant time savings, for example during project ideation and preparatory meetings: “Usually these initial planning meetings can take hours and cost thousands. Now we can get straight to the core issues.”

Here are some of the ways Redan Oy uses Suunta.ai:

  • Strategy work, such as current state analysis and clarifying objectives
  • Various plans, such as development, quality certification, workplace community, and safety plans
  • Creation of guidelines, such as occupational safety directives
  • HR and marketing communications, as well as event ideation
  • Market research and associated follow-up recommendations
  • Research on legal and data security topics
  • Streamlining project planning and documentation
  • Sparring support

“This example shows how, even in a more traditional sector, the use of AI significantly enhances operations,” says Henri Saarela.

Redan Oy plans to continue expanding its use of Suunta.ai

Redan Oy intends to extend Suunta.ai’s use, particularly in supporting sales, cost estimation analytics, and post-project reviews. The goal is to take advantage of the tool even more effectively in data-driven decision-making – for instance, analyzing Excel-based budgets and project tracking.

“Panu and I found many additional use cases. I’m convinced that the benefits of Suunta.ai at Redan will grow significantly from what we’ve already seen,” Saarela says.

“It’s a remarkably good tool. I believe there is real potential here – to improve accuracy and strengthen both cost estimation and project profitability,” Lallukka concludes.
