The Finnish consulting firm Y4 Works has developed and launched a new AI-based “consulting expert” for organizations, called Suunta.ai. Suunta.ai aims to dramatically increase the use of AI within organizations and make it easier to adopt by offering a single tool for management teams, teams, and individual employees – whether it involves creating and implementing strategies or providing daily work advice. Suunta.ai gives organizations their own AI solution, distinguishing itself from other language models by learning to understand the organization in detail based on the materials fed into it and how it is used. In this way, it can deliver significantly more value than the generic tools offered by broad-based language models such as ChatGPT.
Adopting AI and realizing its benefits remains a major challenge for Finnish organizations. According to a study by Aalto University, 80 percent of companies in Finland fail in their AI adoption, as it is not only a technological challenge but also a leadership issue—employee enthusiasm for using AI is crucial. One concrete example of the challenges of AI implementation in organizations is not knowing which data to feed into the AI in the first place – or starting to feed it enormous amounts of material, which is a big and lengthy process. Suunta.ai, on the other hand, guides users to input only the most essential information and materials, and requests additional data if the existing material is insufficient.
“Finnish organizations’ efficiency and productivity are lagging behind the rest of the Nordics, and this is a major economic problem. Many organizations use AI, but generally this means that employees use ChatGPT or other free tools, which provide generic answers. Training an AI on an organization’s own data and key materials, combined with its consultative and developmental approach, is at the core of Suunta.ai’s innovation, and we have found that it can even double work efficiency,” says Y4 Works CEO Matti Petteri Pöntiö.
Suunta.ai has been specifically developed for use by all employees in an organization. It is trained on the organization’s own information and data, and continuously learns more, acting as both a source of answers and advice, as well as a business consultant. A common problem with general AI tools is their lack of pushback: they produce answers even if the user’s questions or input data are incomplete. Suunta.ai, however, evaluates the quality of the answers and the supplied information, and if necessary, requires additional details from the user to generate high-quality answers.
“Current AI solutions often act more like text editors than sparring partners. AI should not always just go along with the user, but should also know how to challenge them. We have developed Suunta.ai so that it requires users to provide comprehensive and correct information, which also develops their thinking. In this way, the AI functions almost like a human consultant,” Pöntiö adds.
Y4 Works is initially launching Suunta.ai in Finland, but the goal is to expand to international markets as quickly as possible. The company’s ambitions are high: it wants Suunta.ai to become one of the world’s leading AI tools, with tens of millions of users.
“From the start, Y4 Works has aimed to challenge the dusty practices of the consulting industry. We see that AI is transforming the industry and democratizing expertise, making consulting more accessible – this transformation is on the same scale as the shift to online banking and self-service in the banking sector. Finnish companies often lack ambition, but for us it’s clear that we don’t want to build a small solution that gets overshadowed in international competition. Our goal, from the beginning, has been a global market and tens of millions of users. It’s significant that a solution better than ChatGPT for boosting work efficiency has been developed here in Finland,” says Pöntiö.
Suunta.ai is continuously developed based on user feedback. It utilizes the latest versions of ChatGPT but is also a technology-neutral platform that makes it possible to use other solutions if something else takes the lead in the industry. All of Suunta.ai’s data is stored and processed in encrypted form on servers located in the Nordics. Users’ data is not used to train language models, nor is it visible to the Suunta.ai team.
